What does this course involve?

This Programme will be offered at times throughout the academic year. To register your interest please contact Support Services: Broadstairs - 01843605062 (or email Folkestone - 01303 858300 (or email Candidates gain the Plastering Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 framework qualification by completing and achieving: NVQ2: Site based evidence portfolio. Technical Certificate: College-based course covering trade knowledge: exam and practical assessments. Literacy and Numeracy: Fulfilled by completion of Maths and English at an appropriate level. ERR: Employment rights and responsibilities. PLTS: Personal learning and thinking skills. All qualification elements must be achieved to complete the Apprenticeship Framework. There are a number of mandatory units concentrating on health and safety in the workplace to be completed. Apprentices will be required to study a number of optional units linked to specific trade requirements. There is an expectation that candidates will undertake personal study in order to demonstrate knowledge of the subject area, and compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their competence.


What qualifications do I need?

Apprentices should be employed within an appropriate construction environment. Apprentices will be invited to attend a short informal interview prior to the course commencing and to undertake initial assessment to demonstrate the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy required. Apprentices will be allocated a personal tutor for guidance throughout the duration of the course.


The process of assessment requires the demonstration of skills together with appropriate knowledge and understanding to a specified standard. Assessment of the NVQ is based on a combination of observation, questioning and collection of evidence from the workplace.

Fees & Costs

This course is fully funded if the learner is aged under 19. If the learner is 19+ then a £500 employer contribution is required.


On successful completion, you could progress onto studying our Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Plastering.
