This course is designed for people employed in the Construction industry, ideally in a Painting & Decorating environment, who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
The weekly hours will depend on the Apprenticeship qualification and employer.
This Programme will be offered at times throughout the academic year which runs from September 2014 to July 2015. To register your interest please contact Support Services: Broadstairs - 01843605062 (or email email@example.com) Folkestone - 01303 858300 (or email firstname.lastname@example.org). Technical Certificate: College-based course covering trade knowledge: exam and practical assessments. Literacy and Numeracy: Fulfilled by completion of Maths and English at an appropriate level. ERR: Employment Rights and Responsibilities, achieved at Level 2. PLTS: Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. All qualification elements must be achieved to complete the Apprenticeship Framework. There are a number of mandatory units concentrating on health and safety in the workplace to be completed. There is an expectation that candidates will undertake personal study in order to demonstrate knowledge of the subject area, and compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their competence.
Apprentices should be employed within an appropriate construction environment. Apprentices will be invited to attend a short informal interview prior to the course commencing and to undertake initial assessment to demonstrate the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy required. Apprentices will be allocated a personal tutor for guidance throughout the duration of the course.
The process of assessment requires the demonstration of skills together with appropriate knowledge and understanding to a specified standard. Assessment of the NVQ is based on a combination of observation, questioning and collection of evidence from the workplace.
This course is fully funded if the Apprentice is aged under 19. If the Apprentice is 19+ then a £750 employer contribution is required. If the Apprentice is aged 24+ the please contact us for more information about 24+ learner loans.
