What does this course involve?

Broadstairs Campus

You’ll learn how to apply wide wall coverings and carry out specialist architectural feature work, as well as refining your painting and wallpapering skills.

You can look forward to the chance to project manage real communitybased projects and participate in skills competitions.

Folkestone Campus

You’ll learn the practical skills needed to erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms, prepare surfaces for decoration, apply paint by brush and roller and how to apply wall coverings to ceilings and walls. You will also produce advanced decorative finishes, carry out specialist architectural feature work and apply water-borne paint systems using high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray equipment.

Your Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at C grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 2 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical sessions in our workshop environments and assessment will be through written work and online tests.

Fees & Costs

Additional expenses to consider include safety boots, bib and brace decorator whites at an approximate total cost of £45.

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.
