What does this course involve?

In the workshop you will learn the techniques of positional welding with MIG and MMA and undertake destructive and non-destructive testing to check your own welds.

Knowledge based topics include metallurgy and engineering science and further practical topics of CNC, pneumatics and electronics will expand your engineering expertise and make you an attractive prospect for employers.

You can look forward to the opportunity to take part in intercollege skills competitions at local and national level and the chance of work experience with leading community partners.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at C grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 2 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical sessions in our Centre for Environmental Technology. Assessment will be through written work and online tests.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials.
