What does this course involve?

You will study core units of the performing arts industry, performing arts in context and community arts, performing arts enterprise and preparation, performance and production to develop your understanding of the industry as a whole.

You will then focus on one of the five pathways: acting, dance, performance, singing and stage production. These pathways will allow you to work on collaborative productions and performances to continue the understanding of all roles within the industry, whilst developing your own specific discipline As part of your course, you will develop and launch a company and identify and meet potential clients, venues and locations.

Building on your in-year projects, the culmination of your course will be a final project, showcasing your professional skills and knowledge that is assessed by industry specialists and experts.

Within your specialism you will have the opportunity to work in groups and individually to build your own Study Programme with individual modules, be it production or performance. The programme will develop further your opportunities to ensure that you are industry-ready through continued employer links, CV and casting and portfolio development.

You will understand the management of freelance tools, such as social media, to push your career forward. You will have the opportunity to enter regional and national competitions to test your talents against your peers.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

Successful students can progress on to Performance Industries Extended Diploma Level 3, continue on to the Performance Industries HNC and on to university or the workplace.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

Opportunities

We offer this course as a two year Extended Diploma, equivalent to three A Levels, to further your technical learning or progress on to university or other Higher Education courses.
