What does this course involve?

You’ll learn a variety of skills required to progress in the IT industry, including technical skills, web design, systems development and data collection. Particular emphasis is placed on issues surrounding networking solutions and cybersecurity.

You will work closely with our industry partners, who will be providing opportunities for master classes, external visits and work experience. This course will provide you with essential skills, knowledge and experience to open up a wide range of IT related career options, not just within the technical sector itself, but also in relation to business and enterprise.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress into work or onto the next level of study.


What qualifications do I need?

4 Cs or 4s including English and maths.


You will learn through practical sessions and assessment will be through demonstrating your skills, written work and online tests. Where possible, assessment involves case studies and real life scenarios from the workplace. This course also involves participation in a work placement within industry. You will compile a portfolio of evidence.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

We offer this course as a two year Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Digital Technologies, equivalent to three A Levels, to further your technical learning or progress on to university or other Higher Education courses. At Dover, we offer a specialised Cyber Security Pathway, which includes modules on Data Encryption and Ethical Hacking. On successful completion of the Advanced Technical Extended Diploma you will be able to study at a higher level on one of our HNC programmes or at university, alternatively you could progress into employment within the IT sector.
