This course is designed to develop you confidence in planning and sequencing your work safely to undertake site carpentry tasks.
Level 2 - Site-Carpentry (part-time)
3 hours per week, 5.30pm – 8.30pm
You will learn essential knowledge and skills such as: using hand and power tools and how to work with pitch, truss and flat roofing. You will also learn how to undertake tasks such as door hanging and fitting ironmongery, door and window frame/board fitting, staircase assembly and fitting, floor joists and floor coverings, kitchen fitting & fitments, studwork, skirting and architrave and timber component repairs.
This course will give you the confidence and experience to undertake challenging site carpentry tasks and progress on to our Level 3 Study Programme.
This Study Programme consists of 8 units with assessments:
• Health, safety & welfare in construction and associated industries
• Prepare & use carpentry & joinery portable power tools
• Understanding construction information , quantities & communication with others
• Understanding construction technology
• Carry out first fixing operations
• Carry out second fixing operations
• Carry out structural carcassing operations
• Carry out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work
You will need a Level 1 qualification in Site Carpentry / Bench Joinery or equivalent. You will also need GCSE grades D or above in math and English.
Throughout this course there are continued practical and knowledge assessments, some of which are timed assessments. For the Leve 2 Site Carpentry course there will be online exams at the end of each unit.
You must provide your own safety footwear, stationary, tape measure, course textbook (£30) and suitable clothing for the environment you work in.
Course fee: £900
All prices quoted are given as a guide, and may be subject to change. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such a travel, equipment and childcare. The fees for this course are payable by all learners aged 19 plus. The College policy regarding remission of fees does not apply to this course.

On successful completion you could progress onto a Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry. Alternatively, you could seek employment within the construction industry, either craft based, technical or professional.
