What does this course involve?

Broadstairs Campus

You’ll learn key skills within the professional cookery industry such as larder, pastry, baking, and butchery along with general cookery and kitchen skills.

You will also learn skills related to front of house services and the basics of running a kitchen environment. You can look forward to the opportunity to work with top chefs and gain real work experience in our College restaurant and refectory.

Folkestone Campus

You’ll learn key skills within the professional cookery industry such as larder, pastry, baking and butchery, along with general cookery and kitchen skills. You will also learn skills related to front of house services and the basics of running a kitchen environment.

You can look forward to the opportunity to work with top chefs and gain real work experience in our College restaurant and refectory.

You will be expected to undertake 30 hours of work experience with a recognised local employer during the course of the year.

These Study Programmes will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at D grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 1 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical sessions in our kitchens and assessment will be through written work and online tests.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.
