What does this course involve?

You’ll learn general engineering principles which consist of three core units, four mandatory units and an assortment of optional units which may include: Interpreting and using engineering information, mathematics for engineering technicians, applied electrical and mechanical science for engineering, machining techniques, electronic circuit construction, production planning for engineering.

You can look forward to the chance of undertaking work experience, learning from local employers and participating in community projects.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at D grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 1 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical sessions in our new, state-of-the-art Engineering Centre. Assessment will be through written work and online tests.

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.
