What does this course involve?

Broadstairs Campus

You’ll learn all the necessary skills to progress on to our Level 3 programme. You will cover a variety of aspects relating to the Early Years curriculum, child development and the importance of play in learning. Alongside this you will undertake a ready-to-work unit to add to your employability skills.

You can look forward to work placements one full day a week in our on-site nursery or with another local childcare provider allocated by the work placement officer.

Folkestone Campus

You’ll learn all the necessary skills to progress on to our Level 3 programme and become qualified as an Early Years Practitioner.

You will cover a variety of aspects of caring for children and supporting their needs, such as child development, safeguarding and wellbeing, and creating activity plans.

You can look forward to the opportunity to put your skills into use with a one day a week work placement.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at D grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 1 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical and theoretical lessons and build a portfolio of work.

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.
