What does this course involve?

You’ll learn programming, computer hardware building and maintenance, use of computers in industry and how to develop mobile applications.

You will also be able to develop your IT skills using a range of software. You can look forward to the chance to develop programming skills and work in a practical way with hardware and software.

You’ll learn a variety of skills required to progress in the IT industry, including programming, coding, computer hardware building and maintenance, and use of computers in industry. Particular emphasis is placed on issues surrounding networking solutions and data security principles and you will be able to develop your IT skills using a range of software.

You will work closely with our industry partners, who will be providing opportunities for external visits and work experience. This course will provide you with essential skills, knowledge and experience to open up a wide range of IT related career options, not just within the technical sector itself, but also in relation to business and enterprise.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress into work or onto the next level of study.



What qualifications do I need?

4 Ds or 3s including English and maths or a relevant full level 1.


You will learn though practical and theory sessions and assessment will be through written work and online tests. There will be opportunities for you to demonstrate your problem solving skills using real life scenarios from industry. You will compile a portfolio of evidence of your learning.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

On successful completion you could move onto our Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate in Digital Technologies, any other related Level 3 qualification or directly into work.
