Level 2 - Barbering
15 hours per week
This course will include health and safety, consultation, styling, cutting hair and facial hair. Units covered are: Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp Promote products and services to clients in a salon Cut Mens Hair Cut Facial Hair Styling men's hair Colour and lighten hair Display stock to promote sales in a salon Working in the hair industry Client consultation Following Health and Safety practice in the salon This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.
You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at D grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 1 vocationally related programmes.
Assessment includes written assignments, online testing and practical assessments of various techniques with colouring, styling and cutting with clippers and scissors.

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

On successful completion you could progress on to a Level 3 course in a related field, alternatively you could seek employment within the barbering industry.
