This course is designed to develop you confidence in planning and sequencing your work safely to undertake site carpentry tasks.
Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery (part-time)
15 hours per week
You will learn essential knowledge and skills such as: using hand and power tools, understanding wood-based material and products and setting and marking wood joints. You will also progress on to more complex woodwork joinery frames and site carpentry tasks.
This course will give you the confidence and experience to undertake challenging tasks in bench joinery and site carpentry and progress you on to our Level 2 Study Programme.
This Study Programme consists of 5 units with assessments:
• Health, safety in construction trades
• Working and communicating effectively in construction trades
• Construct woodworking joints
• Fit architrave and skirting
• Fit ironmongery to an internal door
You do not need any previous experience or qualifications in site carpentry or bench joinery to start this course. You will need GCSE at grade D or above in maths and English.
Throughout this course there are continued practical and knowledge assessments, some of which are timed assessments.
You must provide your own safety footwear, stationary, tape measure, course textbook (£30) and suitable clothing for the environment you work in.

The fees for this course are payable by all learners aged 19 plus. The College policy regarding remission of fees does not apply to this course.
