What does this course involve?

This course is to equip students with some aspects of work skills, independent living skills and working to improve their Math and English Skills The course will be accredited and students will gain a certificate during the first year, and a diploma if they progress onto the second year.

The curriculum will be delivered from our specialist facilities which include a Sensory room and flat where students gain valuable life skills including care and safety within the home, shopping and cooking.

Students will undertake a 1 day per week work experience placement.

All students will take part in our Community weeks which take place twice a year working alongside local charities and organisations, to help and support our local community.

Once a term we will monitor, review and if required set new individualised targets.

Transition from school

To support the change from school to college staff will visit students in their current school and students can attend taster days at college.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

This course is a combination of Entry 3 and Level 1 depending on your entry requirements. If you have no formal qualifications you will work towards and Entry 3 qualification which will enable you to progress to Level 1 the following year. This will give you more time to improve you maths and English to enable you to meet the entry requirements needed to progress to Level 2.

Assessment

Students will create a portfolio of evidence, assessment will be through observation and written work

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-24yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.
