What does this course involve?

Broadstairs Campus

You’ll learn specific skills in areas such as dementia care, mobility support, person centred planning and personalisation, along with units covering medication handling and mental health awareness. You will also spend two days a week on a work placement to help you put your skills into use in a care context.

You can look forward to using on-site facilities which include a domestichome setting and a clinical ward room.

Folkestone Campus

This two year Extended Diploma course is perfect for students who are committed to developing their interest in Health and Social Care, have a willingness to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate ideas effectively.

Specialist tutors will facilitate learners’ knowledge and understanding of skills to care for others. You will study a range of units including communication skills, individual care needs, rights and responsibilities, equal opportunities and human growth and development.

You will also develop your transferable skills, including team working, entrepreneurship and essential employment skills.

You can look forward to the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.


What qualifications do I need?

4 Cs or 4s including English and maths.


You will learn through practical demonstrations and assessment will be through written work.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. If you are aged 24 and over an Advanced Learning loan may be available if you are studying at Level 3 and above. On successful completion you could progress into employment within the industry. After gaining significant industry experience you could chose to undertake a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care programme.
