What does this course involve?

Broadstairs Campus

You’ll learn hands-on caring skills along with specific work-related skills such as first aid, safeguarding, manual handling and nutrition. You will undertake a one day a week work placement to further develop your practical skills.

You can look forward to working in our clinical ward and domestic home teaching environment.

Folkestone Campus

This one year course is perfect for students who wish to develop their skills in health and social care. It includes the opportunity to enhance knowledge and understanding of skills to care for others and the responsibilities of working as a professional in a care environment.

Specialist tutors will support you as you study a range of units including communication skills, individual care needs, rights and responsibilities, equal opportunities and human growth and development.

You will also develop your transferable skills, including team working and essential employment skills.

You can look forward to the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at D grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 1 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical demonstrations, and assessment will be through written work.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.
