What does this course involve?

Science GCSEs are now delivered as singular subjects and East Kent College only deliver the GCSE in Chemistry.

These singular, subject specific GCSEs are still equivelent to the old GCSE Award and will allow entry into teaching or other science related careers.

The Chemistry GCSE can be studied as an individual subject in the day or evening, or as part of a range of GCSEs providing a strong basis for further study or employment.

This is a part time programme delivered over one academic year with classes meeting once per week.

What qualifications do I need?

4 Ds or 3s including English and maths or a relevant full level 1. For adult learners without the required entry requirements a short aptitude test and interview will be held to asses applicants.

Our GCSE programmes span a wide range of possibilities in terms of future careers and higher education. Assessment will include three one hour written examinations which make up seventy-five percent of the overall mark. Experimental coursework forms the remaining twenty-five percent of the marks.
