What does this course involve?

Broadstairs Campus You’ll learn the skills needed to plan curriculum, and care for and educate young children 0-7 years.

You will also develop essential skills ready for employment with valuable information and guidance to prepare you for the process of job applications.

You can look forward to participating in two full days of work placements in our on-site nursery or with another local childcare provider allocated by the work placement officer.

Folkestone Campus

You’ll learn work-related skills which include promoting learning and development, leadership and management, assessment and planning, professional practice, supporting children’s health and safety, communication, making positive changes and achieving educational potential. This will give you the desired skills to gain employment.

You can look forward to the opportunity to develop your skills further including a two day a week work placement.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.


What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at C grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 2 vocationally related programmes.


You will learn through practical and theoretical lessons and build a portfolio of work.

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. If you are aged 19 and over an Advanced Learning loan may be available if you are studying at Level 3 and above.
