What does this course involve?

Within the Level 3 Diploma there are two pathways: Early Years Pathway (0-5 years) or The Children’s Social Care Pathway - suitable of practitioners in residential care, care workers and foster carers (8 years +). Learners work through work based units of competence which can be either paper based or electronic.

This course is distance learning however the learner is expected to meet with a trainer/assessor on a monthly basis. Both courses consist of work based units of competence which is anticipated will be completed within eighteen months.

There is relevant support available such as: Telephone/email support, Access to Learning Curve Resources, Individual Tutorial. The course is designed to embrace equality and diversity with all learners that meet the appropriate entry requirements.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need to be aged 19 or over and have at least one year’s experience working with children and young people. You must currently be working in an appropriate care environment relevant to the chosen pathway. In compliance with OFSTED, proof of foundation training would be useful but is not essential to start the programme. A suitable level of literacy is required to complete the written portfolio.

Assessment

An NVQ is an on-going assessment of work based competence and you will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence.
