What does this course involve?

Folkestone Campus

You will learn to plan, organise, analyse and review your work safely. This will include construction documentation, processes and practices and complex bench joinery tasks such as – helical and winder staircase, wreathed hand-railing, segmented window and modern sustainable techniques.

Advanced joinery skills will include setting out, marking out and construction techniques. These will be put into practice in the workshop. A focus will be on technical drawing and the geometry necessary to design and construct complex joinery. This will be underpinned by trade and construction industry theory.

This Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at C grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 2 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical sessions in our workshops and assessment will be through written work, practical assignments and examinations.

Fees & Costs

Additional expenses to consider include commodities at approx. £45.

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials.
