What does this course involve?

If you want to develop creativity into a career this is a great course for you. You will develop skills which can lead to careers such as, Fashion Designer, Illustrator, Interior Designer, Architect, Product Designer, Graphic Designer, Artist, Advertising Creative, Web Designer, Marketing Officer, Social Media Manager or Brand Designer.

You will learn by working on a series of hands-on creative design projects where you will draw, design, photograph, film and make. You will learn about art and design and how it can be used to solve problems on a local and global scale.

You will carry out a design project for a real client in an area of your own interest and have opportunities to work professionally on paid contracts for The EDGE Creative Agency. You will learn how to open your own business, work as a freelancer and develop a high level of financial literacy to enable you to fulfil your creative potential as a sustainable career.

We will be working on a range of projects so you can try out and explore areas of The Creative Industries such as architecture and interior design, illustration, animation, web design, product design, advertising campaigns, graphic design, fashion design.


What qualifications do I need?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at C grades or equivalent including maths and English at grade 4 or above. Students may be able to progress from Level 2 vocationally related programmes and will be interviewed to identify whether they are suitable for the course.


You will learn through participation in industry focussed projects, assessment will be by submission of project work.

Fees & Costs

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

What next? On successful completion you could go to university or gain employment within the Design, Marketing, Advertising, Web, Fashion or Interior Design Industries. Alternatively, you could choose to work in a freelance capacity. If you choose to continue your education this course gives you the opportunity to access the full range of UCAS grades universities require.
