What does this course involve?

This Access programme in Humanities offers a broad range of subjects for students who wish to progress on to degree courses at University. The subjects include: English Literature; History; Law; Politics; Psychology and Sociology. In addition, students will also study two compulsory units, which are Study/IT Skills and Critical Thinking.

As such, successful applicants must be prepared to undertake independent study outside of college contact time. This will require extensive reading, research and essay writing. In addition to subject teaching, the lecturers will provide the transferable skills necessary to study at University. Universities frequently report that Access students are extremely well prepared for the rigours of degree study, as do our former students.

Access students have gone on to study at Universities throughout the UK and the diversity of degrees studied is comprehensive: Anthropology to Zoology. Students who do not have GCSE English or Maths at Grade C or above and require these qualifications to go onto HE, will need to have these prior to starting the Access course. If students do not need English and/or Maths to go onto their preferred HE programme will still be considered at Interview. Students can study their English and Maths with the Pre Access programme in preparation for the Access course if desired on a part time basis.
